With 50 acres of land, a 20-minute drive to the nearest gas station, and an expanding family of in-laws and grandchildren, the challenge was clear: how to entertain everyone?

The solution? Construct this mega playland.  

Our clients had the vision for a court with both pickle ball and basket ball lines. A golf green that is large enough for multiple players and multiple approach shots.

In the design phase, we inquired about the client’s golfing habits. “I don’t really play, but my son-in-law loves it,” was the reply. Could a golfer marry into a more ideal scenario?

We installed over 3,600 square feet of amenities, including a golf green with a generous fringe to catch off-target shots and a 5-foot wide synthetic lawn encircling the court. Tee boxes at distances from 25 to 45 yards offer ideal chipping practice. Custom flags around the property mark the cups, providing a range of putting and chipping challenges.

Our golf green system, designed to replicate the ball-holding characteristics of natural grass, provides an engaging, undulating landscape for approach shots from all angles. This setup is ideal for boys’ trips, perfect for golf competitions with a touch of friendly betting.

The term “backyard putting green” often comes up when discussing artificial turf for golf. While we do install many in backyards, our putting green surfaces are capable of handling full golf shots. When constructed on a large scale with an impact pad beneath the turf, the green can manage shots from up to 180 yards away, responding similarly to natural grass. This is particularly effective in open spaces, maximizing the benefits of artificial grass golf greens.

Although artificial turf golf courses are feasible, they’re commonly referred to as backyard putting greens.
