Long Island, New York Backyard Putting Green Installation by Grass!365 Certified Experts

Backyard Putting and Chipping Greens

A backyard short game practice area is undoubtedly the ultimate luxury for any golfer. The chance to refine your short game, chip the ball closer to the pin, boost your putting confidence, and indulge in golf right from your back door is a dream for every golf aficionado. Grass!365 provides backyard putting greens made from artificial grass that mimics the real thing, serving Long Island and the greater New York City area for the past 20 years. As golfers ourselves, we not only know how to lay down exceptional golf surfaces but also understand the game and how to craft outstanding practice areas.

We enjoy exploring your property and discussing your vision for a backyard putting green. With our extensive experience in successful golf installations, we offer suggestions and design options for green sizes, contours, chipping stations, presenting you with various designs. This process leads to a fruitful conversation, allowing us to explore all possibilities and ultimately create a putting green that you’ll adore.

We install sand-filled artificial grass golf greens capable of receiving shots from 180 yards away, with a putt that feels just like natural grass. These surfaces have received accolades from major champions, aspiring junior golfers, and moms who appreciate the joy it brings to the whole family right in their backyard.

Backyard Golf Fairways

We truly appreciate our golf surfaces and the practice opportunities provided by a backyard putting green. We understand that our home caters to various ages and interests. The fantastic aspect of our putting green is that the entire family can utilize the surface for a multitude of activities. Whether playing soccer, riding a tricycle, or engaging in any other activity, the green remains unharmed.

The entire lawn is covered with artificial grass, with the backyard putting green located in the back corner. The golf green not only adds a beautiful amenity but also enhances the view from inside the home, while the rest of the yard maintains pleasing aesthetics. Beyond its visual appeal, this setup is highly functional. The entire lawn acts as a golf fairway, allowing balls to be dropped and chipped towards the green from any point. Additionally, this resilient surface supports all the activities typically enjoyed on natural grass.

There are numerous options for heights, colors, and infills, enabling customization to enhance both the look and feel from a golfing perspective. Everyone benefits when a golf green is complemented by a beautifully maintained artificial grass lawn.

Putting greens around pools

This project began as a simple lawn surrounding a pool, but once we arrived and shared details about our business and expertise, the conversation quickly shifted. Fortunately, the non-golfing spouse embraced the idea that a putting green could also be visually stunning. While not everyone might want such a golf-centric feature in their backyard, the beauty of our products lies in their flexibility to create unique, multi-purpose installations.
With the removal of the patchy, half-dead grass, the pool area is now cleaner and more inviting. The house and pets also benefit, as mud around the pool is no longer an issue. The addition of a backyard putting green has introduced a new activity, enhancing enjoyment of the space. Fringe turf surrounds the putting surface, completing the look and preventing balls from rolling too far. This fringe also allows for short chip shots, expanding the green’s use beyond just putting.
Artificial turf putting greens maintain their great appearance year-round, require minimal upkeep, and, in this case, bring a significant amount of fun to a smaller space.

Backyard Putting Greens Long Island

In addition to the lawn and backyard, we had Derek also add a putting green. Lucky enough, Derek is an experienced avid golfer. You really wouldn’t want anyone else to create your green for you. He knows exactly where to add the right dips and undulations to make the green fun and challenging.

Chipping Green West Hampton

We transformed the back corner of the lawn behind the swimming pool into an excellent short game practice area. The green is discreetly placed, out of sight from the house, yet still allows ample space for other activities. On the opposite side of the property, we cleverly integrated several chipping tee boxes into mulch beds, keeping them concealed. Some homeowners prefer their putting greens to be a prominent feature of their landscape, while others favor a more traditional look where the green blends into the backyard. The advantage of using artificial turf lies in its flexibility for placement and design, disregarding concerns like sunlight, irrigation, and shade that are critical for natural grass greens.

Chip Shot from Grilling Station

This artificial turf installation featuring a backyard putting green is nothing short of big fun for the whole family. It’s not every day you can position a chipping tee right by the grill, but when you do, homeowners can enjoy evening and weekend sessions of chipping while cooking steaks. What beats coming home on a Friday, igniting the grill, and hitting a few chip shots? The kids have plenty of space for various sports and games, and the golf green adds an extra layer of enjoyment for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed this installation, appreciating how the expansive lawn perfectly complements the golf setup, enhancing family fun.

Backyard Putting Green in Shade

This backyard putting green could aptly be named “Made in the Shade”. Artificial grass thrives where natural grass struggles, particularly in areas with excessive shade. For this Long Island residence, we transformed a problematic corner off the deck into an exciting golf green. Previously, the area suffered from maintenance issues due to trees that absorbed groundwater and cast shade almost all day, inhibiting lawn growth. The decision to install Grass!365 synthetic turf not only addressed these issues but also introduced the idea of a putting green, effectively doubling the benefits. Golf greens can flourish in shade, turning what was once the least attractive part of your property into the most beautiful and frequently used space. Grass!365’s Long Island backyard putting greens do more than just offer a place for practice; they solve problems too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, but very little compared to natural grass.  The area needs to be kept clear of nature like leaves and sticks.  If the green is surrounded by natural grass, the clippings from mowing also need to be blown off.  We offer an annual service to come and brush and roll your green as it ages but this is a quick and easy service that does not have to be repeated often.

The backyard putting greens we install are called Sand-Filled Greens.  We place a padding below the turf then fill the turf fibers up with an inch of sand.  The sand and the padding mimic the impact of a ball being hit into a natural grass green.  If the green is large enough you can hit a shot in from 180 yards away and have the ball react just like a natural grass green.

Fringe turf is an almost must when building a backyard putting green from synthetic turf.  This border of taller turf around the outside of the putting surface not only helps the green to look more natural, there are other reasons to install a fringe.  From a maintenance standpoint, this helps the green itself remain in tact with perfect putting edges.  Keeping mowers and edgers away from the putting surface is also a proper practice.  From a playability standpoint, the fringe helps hold wayward putts on the golfing surfaces and allow for chip shots to be hit onto the green.  We highly recommend fringe turf around every putting green.
