Meet Derek

Derek Paglia is the Principal at Grass!365 Connecticut. Previously a two-time NEC champion golfer in high school, he spent over a decade in the golf industry before transitioning to the synthetic grass sector.

 

For nearly ten years, Derek has cultivated expertise in installing exceptional golf greens and has extended his knowledge to all turf products, designs, and best installation practices. His passion for the industry drives him to explore new applications for artificial turf beyond traditional uses.

 

Together with his team, including family members Ryan and Ben, Derek aims to enhance environments and improve lives through beautiful, low-maintenance synthetic grass installations. Derek, Ryan, and Ben live in Norwalk and manage the Grass!365 territories in Stamford, New Jersey, and Long Island, serving the entire New York City area.

In the Northeast, artificial grass installations tend to have longer lifespans compared to other regions because of reduced sunlight exposure. The region’s shorter days, lower sun angles, and frequent cloud cover, shade, and snow help block UV rays. When installed correctly, synthetic grass drains rapidly, which significantly reduces the risk of mold and mildew. While spring maintenance can enhance appearance and performance post-winter, this season generally benefits turf installations.

When backyard putting greens are properly designed for the length of shot being hit and utilize Sand-filled golf green technology with impact padding below, these golf services can hold a shot from 180 yards away. They look and play like natural grass.  We have been building sand filled artificial grass surfaces since 1998.

No synthetic turf surface is completely maintenance-free. For instance, no turf can self-clean. The primary maintenance involves keeping it clean. Clear away debris that accumulates from storms or tree droppings. Regularly blowing off leaves or pine straw is recommended. Additionally, brushing the fibers periodically helps to remove small debris trapped within and to keep the turf upright in high-traffic areas.
A well-designed and installed artificial grass system is best described as low maintenance.
